Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will create a fun Lego art piece while learning basic foreign language words related to colors and shapes. The student will also enhance their creativity and fine motor skills through building and expressing themselves artistically.
Materials and Prep
- Assorted Lego bricks in various colors and shapes
- Space to build (a table or play mat)
- Optional: a camera or phone to take pictures of creations
- Familiarity with basic colors and shapes in the chosen foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, etc.)
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Start the lesson by asking the student to find Lego bricks of specific colors. For example, say "Find me a red brick!" This will help them learn the names of colors in the foreign language.
-
Shape Building: Encourage the student to build different shapes using their Lego bricks. You can say, "Can you make a square?" and help them identify the shape in the foreign language.
-
Art Creation: Let the student create an art piece using their Lego bricks. They can build anything they like, such as a house, a car, or a tree. Encourage them to describe their creation using the foreign language.
-
Photo Time: After completing their Lego art, take a picture of their creation. Ask them to say the name of their creation in the foreign language, making it a fun way to remember what they built!
