Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize, spell, and use a list of 6-letter words in sentences. The student will also develop a better understanding of word structure and improve their vocabulary skills.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or pen
- List of 6-letter words (prepared in advance)
- Timer (optional for some activities)
Before the lesson, prepare a list of 10-15 6-letter words and ensure the student understands that each word has exactly six letters. Examples include "friend," "pencil," and "bright."
Activities
-
Word Scramble:
Write the 6-letter words on a piece of paper and scramble the letters. Have the student unscramble them and write the correct words next to the scrambled versions.
-
Sentence Creation:
Ask the student to choose 5 of the 6-letter words and create a fun sentence for each. Encourage creativity and humor!
-
Word Race:
Set a timer for 5 minutes and challenge the student to write down as many 6-letter words as they can remember. After time is up, review the list together.
-
Word Art:
Have the student pick their favorite 6-letter word and create a piece of art that represents that word. They can draw, color, or even use cut-out letters to make a collage.
