Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have explored various subjects through fun activities that connect their interests in Jiu Jitsu, piano, swimming, and more, while developing their creativity, physical skills, and knowledge in a playful way.

Materials and Prep

  • Space for physical activities (like a living room or backyard)
  • Piano or keyboard for music activities
  • Swimming pool or bathtub for water activities
  • Art supplies (paper, crayons, or markers)
  • Access to Khan Academy on a device (if needed for math activities)
  • Comfortable clothing for Jiu Jitsu and Little Athletics

Make sure to prepare the space for each activity and have the materials ready. Explain each activity clearly to the student before starting.

Activities

  • Jiu Jitsu Moves

Practice some fun and easy Jiu Jitsu moves. You can pretend to be a ninja and try rolling, tumbling, and gentle grappling with a soft mat or pillow.

  • Piano Playtime

Spend some time on the piano. Play simple songs or make up your own tunes. You can even tap out the rhythm of the Jiu Jitsu moves you learned!

  • Water Fun

If it's safe, splash around in a pool or bathtub. You can pretend to be swimming like a fish or diving like a dolphin. Remember to practice safety first!

  • Little Athletics Games

Set up a mini obstacle course in your yard or living room. You can jump, run, and crawl, just like in Little Athletics!

  • Creative Art Time

Draw or paint your favorite scene from Jiu Jitsu, swimming, or anything else you love. Use lots of colors and let your imagination run wild!

  • Khan Academy Math Fun

Log onto Khan Academy and play some fun math games. You can count the number of moves you did in Jiu Jitsu or how many splashes you made in the water!

Talking Points

  • "Jiu Jitsu is like a dance, but we use our bodies to roll and play safely!"
  • "Music can make us feel happy! What does your favorite song make you want to do?"
  • "Water is fun! What can we pretend to be while swimming? A fish or a dolphin?"
  • "Running and jumping helps our bodies stay strong! Can you jump like a kangaroo?"
  • "Art is a way to show our feelings. What colors make you feel happy?"
  • "Math is everywhere! How many steps did we take today? Let's count together!"
