By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own dinosaur artwork using simple materials.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers or crayons
- Dinosaur templates (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have all the materials ready and accessible.
Activities
- Introduction: Begin by discussing dinosaurs with the student. Show pictures or books about dinosaurs to spark their interest.
- Dinosaur Shapes: Provide the student with construction paper and scissors. Encourage them to cut out different dinosaur shapes. They can either freehand draw the shapes or use dinosaur templates.
- Decorating Dinosaurs: Once the dinosaur shapes are cut out, let the student use markers or crayons to decorate them. They can add colors, patterns, and even draw facial features.
- Creating a Dinosaur Scene: Using a separate piece of construction paper, ask the student to create a dinosaur scene. They can glue their decorated dinosaurs onto the paper and add additional elements like trees, volcanoes, or other dinosaurs.
- Presentation: Give the student an opportunity to present their dinosaur artwork. Ask them to explain their scene and the dinosaurs they created.
