Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of cheerleading, including simple moves, cheers, and how to work as a team. They will also gain confidence in performing cheerleading routines.

Materials and Prep

  • Open space for movement
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Water bottle for hydration
  • Optional: Cheerleading pom-poms (if available)

Before the lesson, ensure the area is clear of obstacles and safe for physical activity. Encourage the student to wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

Activities

  • Warm-Up Stretch

    Start with simple stretches to warm up the body. Stretch arms, legs, and back while counting to 10 together.

  • Learn Basic Moves

    Introduce basic cheerleading moves like jumps, kicks, and arm motions. Practice each move slowly, then speed it up as confidence grows.

  • Create a Cheer

    Help the student create a fun cheer using simple words. Encourage them to use their name or favorite animal in the cheer!

  • Teamwork Game

    Play a game where the student can practice cheering for you or a stuffed animal. This will help them feel like part of a team!

  • Mini Performance

    End the lesson with a mini performance where the student shows off their moves and cheer! Celebrate their hard work with applause!
