By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the concept of liveability in different places, identify key factors that contribute to liveability, and evaluate how these factors affect people's quality of life in various environments.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen/pencil for notes
  • Access to a computer or tablet (optional for research)
  • Printed maps of different cities or regions (if available)
  • Charts or graphs showing liveability rankings (optional)
  • Preparation of a list of factors that affect liveability (e.g., safety, healthcare, education, environment, economy)

Activities

  • Liveability Ranking Research: The student will research the liveability rankings of different cities around the world. They can create a simple chart to compare the scores based on various factors such as safety, healthcare, and education.

  • Personal Liveability Assessment: The student will conduct a self-assessment of their own community. They will list the factors that contribute to or detract from liveability in their area and suggest improvements.

  • Debate on Liveability Factors: The student will prepare for a friendly debate on which factor is most important for liveability. They will gather arguments and counterarguments to present their case.
