Objective

Materials and Prep

Before starting the lesson, it’s helpful to know some basic facts about mushrooms, such as their growth environments and types.

Activities

  • Mushroom Observation:

    If possible, take a walk outside to look for mushrooms. Observe their size, color, and shape. If you find mushrooms, sketch them in your notebook and write down your observations.

  • Mushroom Research:

    Use the internet to research different types of mushrooms. Look for interesting facts, such as which ones are edible and which ones are poisonous. Write down three fascinating facts you discover.

  • Mushroom Life Cycle Drawing:

    Draw the life cycle of a mushroom, from spore to mature mushroom. Label each stage and explain what happens at each point in the cycle.
