Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the importance of health, including how to take care of their body, the benefits of eating healthy foods, and the fun ways to stay active. They will also learn about different parts of the body and how they work together to keep us healthy.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and crayons for drawing
  • A comfortable space for movement activities
  • A list of healthy foods (can be discussed verbally)
  • Simple body movement ideas (like jumping jacks, stretching, etc.)

Activities

  • Healthy Food Drawing: Ask the student to draw their favorite healthy foods. Once they are done, discuss why these foods are good for our bodies. Encourage them to think about colors and shapes!

  • Body Movement Fun: Create a mini workout session where you both do different movements like jumping, stretching, and dancing. Explain how moving our bodies helps us stay strong and healthy.

  • Body Parts Game: Play a game where you name different body parts and the student has to point to them. You can also discuss what each part does, like how our hearts pump blood.

Talking Points

  • "Eating healthy foods helps our bodies grow strong! What are some foods you like that are healthy?"
  • "Moving our bodies is fun! When we play and exercise, we feel happy and energetic!"
  • "Our hearts are like little pumps that keep our blood moving. Can you feel your heart beating?"
  • "Drinking water is super important! It helps us stay refreshed and helps our bodies work well."
  • "Every part of our body has a special job! Can you name a part of your body and what it does?"
  • "Taking care of our health means eating well, staying active, and getting enough sleep. What do you like to do to stay healthy?"
