Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of human health, including nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being. They will be able to identify healthy habits and create a personal health plan to incorporate into their daily life.

Materials and Prep

  • Pencil and paper for note-taking
  • A timer or stopwatch
  • A comfortable space for physical activities
  • Access to a mirror for self-reflection activities
  • Knowledge of basic food groups and types of exercises

Activities

  • Healthy Plate Creation

    The student will draw a plate and divide it into sections to represent different food groups. They will research and write down examples of healthy foods for each group.

  • Exercise Circuit

    Set up a mini exercise circuit that includes jumping jacks, squats, and stretches. The student will perform each exercise for 1 minute, followed by a 30-second rest, repeating the circuit three times.

  • Mood Journal

    The student will keep a mood journal for the day, recording their feelings at different times and what activities they were doing. They will reflect on how physical activity and nutrition affect their mood.

  • Personal Health Plan

    The student will create a personal health plan that includes daily activities related to nutrition, exercise, and mental health. They will set achievable goals for the week.
