Jax's Awesome Duck Pond Adventure!
Get ready for a fun trip to the pond with Dad and your brothers to see and feed the ducks! Let's learn a little before we go.
Part 1: Getting Ready (At Home)
- What are Ducks?: Look at pictures of ducks (or a simple book). What do they look like? (Feathers, wings, beaks, webbed feet for swimming). What sounds do they make? ('Quack, quack!')
- Where do Ducks Live?: Talk about ponds - places with water where ducks love to swim and find food.
- Yummy Duck Food (Not Bread!): Discuss why bread isn't healthy for ducks (it's like duck junk food!). We'll bring healthy snacks like oats, corn, or special duck feed. Let's put our healthy duck snacks in a container!
- Pond Safety: Remember to stay close to Dad or your brothers near the water and walk carefully.
Part 2: At the Duck Pond!
- Look and Listen: What do you see? How many ducks? What colors are they? Are they swimming, walking, or resting? Listen for their quacks! (Optional: Use kid-friendly binoculars).
- Counting Ducks: Let's count the ducks together! How many big ones? How many small ones?
- Feeding Time: With Dad's help, let's carefully give the ducks their healthy snacks. Take turns with your brothers. Watch them eat! Don't try to touch the ducks; just watch.
- Pond Explorers: What else do you see near the pond? Maybe some plants, bugs, or other birds?
Part 3: Back Home Fun
- Talk About It: What was your favorite part of visiting the ducks? What did the ducks do that was funny?
- Draw the Ducks: Let's draw a picture of the ducks at the pond! You can draw the water, the ducks swimming, and your family feeding them.
- Review: What did we learn today? (Ducks live near water, quack, swim, eat healthy snacks like oats, not bread!).
