Activities

1. Activity 1: Sorting Play Food

   Begin by spreading out all the play food items on a table or the floor. Ask the student to sort the items into different categories based on their characteristics. For example, they can group fruits together, vegetables together, and utensils together. Encourage the use of descriptive words while sorting, such as "round," "green," or "spoon."

2. Activity 2: Building Sentences

   Using the play food items, ask the student to create simple sentences. For example, they can say, "I have an apple" while holding a plastic apple. Encourage them to use correct grammar, such as using "a" or "an" before a singular noun. You can also provide flashcards with pictures of different play food items to help them form sentences.

3. Activity 3: Acting Out a Restaurant

   Set up a play kitchen or designated play area as a restaurant. Assign roles to the student and yourself, such as a customer and a waiter/waitress. Use the play food items to act out different scenarios, such as ordering food, asking for the bill, or pretending to cook. Encourage the student to use appropriate language and grammar during the role play.
