Activities

1. Introduction to Interior Design

   Begin by discussing the importance of interior design and its impact on our daily lives. Show examples of well-designed spaces from magazines or online sources. Encourage the student to share their thoughts and opinions on what makes a space visually appealing.

2. Color Theory

   Introduce the concept of color theory and its significance in interior design. Use the color wheel to explain primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Discuss color schemes such as monochromatic, complementary, and analogous. Have the student create color swatches and label them accordingly.

3. Space Planning

   Teach the student about space planning and the importance of functional layouts. Discuss the different zones within a room (e.g., seating area, work area, storage) and how to optimize the flow of the space. Have the student measure and draw a floor plan of their own bedroom or a fictional room.

4. Furniture Arrangement

   Explain the principles of furniture arrangement, including balance, proportion, and focal points. Show examples of different furniture layouts and discuss their advantages and disadvantages. Have the student sketch multiple furniture arrangements for their room or a given space.

5. Design Mood Board

   Guide the student in creating a design mood board using magazine cutouts or online images. Encourage them to select elements that reflect their personal style and desired ambiance for a specific room. Have them present their mood board and explain their design choices.
