Materials and Prep
- Plain white t-shirt
- Fabric markers or fabric paint
- Colorful buttons
- Scissors
- Glue
- Old magazines with fashion pictures
- Cardboard or poster board
- Table or workspace
Before starting the lesson, it would be helpful to have some fashion magazines or pictures of different clothing styles to show the student for inspiration.
Activities
- Discuss fashion design and its importance in expressing creativity and personal style.
- Look through fashion magazines or pictures together and talk about different clothing styles.
- Have the student choose a design or create their own fashion sketch on the cardboard or poster board.
- Using fabric markers or paint, help the student transfer their design onto the plain white t-shirt.
- Encourage the student to add buttons or other decorative elements to their design using glue.
- Allow the t-shirt to dry completely before wearing or displaying the final design.
