Troy's 1-Minute Shape Shift Mission!
Materials Needed: Small whiteboard or piece of paper, marker or pen, (optional) a square piece of paper for demonstration.
Get Ready (5 seconds): "Hi Troy! Ready for a super speedy math and shape mission? Let's go!"
The Challenge (15 seconds): "Imagine I have a perfect square (you can quickly draw one or show a square piece of paper). If I cut this square with one straight cut from one corner *directly* to the opposite corner, what two new identical shapes do I make? Think fast!"
Your Creative Solution (30 seconds): "Quick, Troy! Draw the two new shapes or tell me what they are called! Can you think of anything around you that has that new shape?"
Awesome! (10 seconds): "Yes! Two triangles! Great job, shape explorer! If you said triangles and maybe even thought that a slice of sandwich cut this way makes triangles, that's super creative! You're a math whiz!"
