Part 1: Spark Your Memory! (10-15 minutes)
Let's talk about our hike to Hanging Rock:
- What was the most exciting part of the hike for you?
- What did you see from the summit? Can you describe the view?
- What sounds did you hear? What did the air smell like?
- Can you remember any specific plants, rocks, or animals you noticed?
- How did you feel when you reached the top?
Thinking about these things will help you with your creative project!
Part 2: Choose Your Creative Mission! (5-10 minutes)
Imagine you're a park ranger, a story writer, or an adventure guide. Your mission is to create ONE of the following to share the magic of Hanging Rock:
- An Adventure Story: Write a thrilling story (it can be true, or you can add your own make-believe parts!) about your hike. Did you discover a secret cave? Meet a talking squirrel? Your story, your rules!
- A "Hiker's Top Tips" Brochure: Design a cool, foldable brochure for someone hiking Hanging Rock for the first time. Include your best advice: What should they wear? What snacks are essential? What are the "must-see" spots on the trail? Make it eye-catching!
- A Summit Comic Strip: Tell the story of your hike in a comic strip format. Use speech bubbles, action scenes, and funny moments. Show us your journey from the bottom to the top!
- An Explorer's Map: Create your own map of Hanging Rock. It doesn't have to be perfectly accurate like a real map; make it an "explorer's map"! Highlight the path you took, interesting landmarks you remember (like a cool twisted tree or a big boulder), and maybe even add a spot for a "hidden treasure" or a "dragon's lair" (if you're feeling imaginative!).
- A "Nature Spotter" Mini-Guide: Focus on one aspect of Hanging Rock (like the cool rock formations, a specific type of tree you noticed, or the birds you saw). Create a small guide with drawings and interesting facts (you can look up simple facts if you want, or just describe what you observed).
Which mission will you choose?
Part 3: Plan & Create! (45-60 minutes)
Now it's time to bring your chosen mission to life!
- Plan it out: Briefly sketch or jot down your main ideas. What will your story be about? What sections will your brochure have? What scenes will be in your comic? What will your map show?
- Get creative: Use your art supplies and imagination! Make your project colorful, interesting, and fun to look at. Remember to draw on your memories of the hike.
- Add details: Think about what makes Hanging Rock special. What would make someone else excited to learn about it or visit?
- Optional: If you want to add a few facts (like the type of rock, or local plants/animals), we can look them up together! But the main goal is your creative expression.
I'm here to help if you get stuck or want to brainstorm ideas!
Part 4: Share Your Adventure! (10-15 minutes)
Wow, your creation looks amazing! Now it's time to share it.
- Present your project. Tell me about what you made and why you made the choices you did.
- What was your favorite part about creating this?
- What did you learn or remember about Hanging Rock while working on this project?
- How do you think your project could inspire or help someone else interested in Hanging Rock?
