Materials and Prep

- Printed pictures of famous Russian landmarks or symbols (e.g., Kremlin, Matryoshka dolls)
- Access to a computer or tablet with internet connection
- Optional: Russian music or traditional Russian costumes
Activities

Introduce the concept of Russia to the toddler by showing pictures of famous Russian landmarks or symbols. Explain that Russia is a country far away and that it has a rich history and unique culture.

Listen to traditional Russian music together and encourage the toddler to dance or move along to the music. Discuss how music can reflect the culture of a country.

Print out a coloring page of a Matryoshka doll (Russian nesting doll) and let the toddler color it. Explain that Matryoshka dolls are a traditional Russian toy and that they come in different sizes, each fitting inside the other.

Using a computer or tablet, show the toddler pictures or videos of Russian children or families celebrating a holiday or participating in a cultural event. Discuss the similarities and differences between their own experiences and those of the Russian children.
