Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe different types of apples and their characteristics.

Materials and Prep

  • Several different types of apples (red, green, yellow)
  • A cutting board
  • A knife
  • Plates or bowls for apple samples
  • Napkins or paper towels

Activities

  1. Introduce the topic of apples and ask the student what they know about them. Discuss the different colors and shapes of apples.
  2. Show the student the different types of apples you have and ask them to describe each one. Talk about the differences in color, size, and texture.
  3. Cut each apple into slices and place them on individual plates or bowls. Encourage the student to touch, smell, and taste each apple slice. Ask them to describe the flavors and textures they experience.
  4. Discuss with the student which apple they liked the most and why. Encourage them to use descriptive words to explain their preference.
  5. Wrap up the lesson by summarizing the different types of apples and their characteristics. Ask the student if they have any questions or if there is anything else they would like to learn about apples.
