By the end of this lesson, you will be able to introduce basic facts about Russian history and culture to a preschool grade-level homeschool student.
Materials and Prep
- World map or globe
- Pictures or illustrations of Russian landmarks, such as the Kremlin or St. Basil's Cathedral
- Printouts of Russian alphabet letters
- Coloring materials
- Optional: Traditional Russian music
Activities
- Introduction to Russia: Show the world map or globe and point out Russia. Explain that Russia is a country located in both Europe and Asia.
- Landmark Exploration: Show pictures or illustrations of Russian landmarks. Discuss their unique features and significance. Encourage the student to ask questions and share their observations.
- Learning the Russian Alphabet: Introduce a few Russian alphabet letters using printouts or flashcards. Teach the student how to pronounce and write these letters. Allow them to practice writing the letters and coloring the printouts.
- Traditional Russian Music: Play some traditional Russian music in the background while engaging in other activities. This will help create a cultural atmosphere and expose the student to different sounds.
