Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or crayons
  • Books or online resources about apples

Prior to the lesson, gather some information about apples and have it ready to share with the student.

Activities

  2. Research: Use books or online resources to learn more about apples together. Look for interesting facts such as different varieties, where they grow, and their nutritional value. Discuss the information and ask the student to pick their favorite fact to share later.
  3. Writing: Have the student write a short paragraph about apples. Encourage them to include at least one fact they learned during the research and to share a personal experience or opinion about apples. Remind them to use complete sentences and proper punctuation.
  4. Illustration: After writing the paragraph, ask the student to draw a picture related to their paragraph. It could be an apple tree, a basket of apples, or anything else that represents their writing.
  5. Sharing: Give the student an opportunity to share their paragraph and illustration with you or other family members. Encourage them to read their writing aloud and explain their drawing.
