Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice spelling words while having fun with Play dough.
Materials and Prep
- Play dough in various colors
- Index cards or small pieces of paper
- Pen or pencil
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have all the materials ready and set up a comfortable workspace.
Activities
- Create a "Spelling Snake"
- Word Sculptures
- Spelling Tower Challenge
Roll out a long snake shape with the Play dough. Then, write a spelling word on an index card or piece of paper and place it on the Play dough snake. Repeat this process for several spelling words, creating a trail of words along the snake.
Choose a spelling word and sculpt the letters of the word using Play dough. Get creative and make each letter stand out by using different colors of Play dough for each letter.
Build a tower using Play dough. Before adding each layer, write a spelling word on an index card or piece of paper and place it on the tower. See how high you can build the tower while spelling words correctly.
