Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and use basic English grammar concepts related to farm animals and activities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper or whiteboard
- Markers or crayons
- Farm animal toys or pictures
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Introduce farm animals: Show the toddler pictures or toys of different farm animals. Teach them the names of each animal and encourage them to repeat after you.
- Matching game: Draw or print out pictures of farm animals and their corresponding names. Cut them out and mix them up. Help the toddler match the animal with its name by placing them side by side.
- Grammar sorting: Write down simple sentences related to farm activities, such as "The cow eats hay" or "The horse runs in the field." Ask the toddler to identify the subject and the verb in each sentence. Use the farm animal toys or pictures to help them visualize and understand the concepts.
- Verb charades: Act out different farm activities using the farm animal toys or pictures. Encourage the toddler to guess the verb you are acting out. For example, if you pretend to milk a cow, the toddler should say "milking."
- Storytime: Read a farm-themed book to the toddler, emphasizing the use of verbs and animal names. Pause occasionally to ask the toddler questions about the story, encouraging them to use the correct grammar concepts.
