Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe different types of dinosaur bones.
Materials and Prep
- Dinosaur books or online resources
- Paper and crayons/markers
- Optional: Dinosaur figurines or toy bones
Activities
- Read a Dinosaur Book: Start the lesson by reading a dinosaur book together. Encourage the student to ask questions and point out any dinosaur bones mentioned in the book.
- Dinosaur Bone Rubbing: Provide the student with a sheet of paper and crayons/markers. Show them how to place the paper over a textured surface (e.g., a toy dinosaur bone or a picture of dinosaur bones) and rub the crayon/marker over it to create a fossil-like impression.
- Dinosaur Bone Sorting: If you have dinosaur figurines or toy bones, ask the student to sort them based on their size, shape, or type. Discuss the different characteristics of the bones and encourage them to use descriptive words.
- Create a Dinosaur Bone Drawing: Ask the student to draw their own dinosaur bone on a piece of paper. Encourage them to be creative and use their imagination.
