Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand basic geography concepts through a fun princess-themed activity.
Materials and Prep
- A map or globe
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
Activities
- Create a Princess Kingdom Map
- Find the Real-Life Locations
- Act Out a Royal Journey
Using the construction paper, markers, and scissors, help your child create a map of their own princess kingdom. Encourage them to draw different landmarks, such as castles, rivers, and mountains.
Show your child a map or globe and explain that the princess kingdom they created is imaginary. Help them locate real-life countries or cities that have similar features to the landmarks they drew. For example, if they drew a castle, find a real castle on the map.
Encourage your child to pretend they are a princess going on a royal journey. Ask them questions about the different locations they would visit and the geography they would encounter along the way. For example, "What kind of terrain would you cross to reach the mountains?"
