Materials and Prep
- Spiderman toy or picture
- Whiteboard or large piece of paper
- Markers or crayons
Prior knowledge of who Spiderman is and basic understanding of superheroes would be helpful.
Activities
- Introduce Spiderman: Show the Spiderman toy or picture to the student and ask if they know who Spiderman is. Discuss briefly about Spiderman being a superhero who helps people.
- Superhero Discussion: Have a conversation with the student about superheroes and their characteristics. Ask questions like "What do superheroes do?", "How do they help people?", and "Can you think of any other superheroes?" Encourage the student to share their thoughts and ideas.
- Spiderman Saves the Day: Tell the student a short story about Spiderman saving the day. Emphasize how Spiderman used his special abilities to help people in need. Encourage the student to imagine themselves as a superhero and think about how they would help others.
- Draw Your Hero: Give the student a whiteboard or a large piece of paper and ask them to draw their own superhero. Encourage them to think about the characteristics and abilities their superhero would have. Assist them if needed.
- Share and Discuss: After the student finishes their drawing, have them explain their superhero to you. Ask questions like "What is your superhero's name?", "What can they do to help people?", and "Why did you choose those characteristics?". Discuss their answers and praise their creativity.
