Prior knowledge: None required. We will start from the basics.
Activities
- Introduction to Rome: Show the student pictures of Rome and briefly discuss its location and importance in history.
- Create a Roman Shield: Have the student draw and decorate their own Roman shield on a piece of paper. Discuss the significance of shields in Roman military.
- Roman Numerals: Teach the student about Roman numerals and have them practice writing numbers using Roman numerals.
- Explore Roman Architecture: Show the student pictures of famous Roman buildings like the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Discuss the architectural features and their purposes.
- Play "Roman Emperor Says": Similar to Simon Says, give commands using Roman-themed actions, such as "March like a Roman soldier" or "Build a Roman arch with your arms."
