Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply geometric concepts to create a design inspired by Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Coloring materials (markers, colored pencils, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic geometric shapes (lines, angles, triangles, etc.)

Activities

  1. Start by researching images of Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage and noticing any geometric patterns or shapes in her outfit, hairstyle, or background.
  2. Using your ruler and pencil, create a grid on your paper. The size of the grid squares is up to you, but make sure they are large enough to work with.
  3. Choose a section of the Hatsune Miku image that you find interesting and try to recreate it on your grid using geometric shapes. For example, you could use triangles, rectangles, or circles to represent different parts of the image.
  4. Once you have completed your geometric representation, color it in using your chosen coloring materials. Be creative and use vibrant colors to match the spirit of Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!
  5. Reflect on your creation and think about how geometric shapes can be used to create visually appealing designs.

Seventh Grade Talking Points

  • "Geometry is the branch of mathematics that deals with shapes, sizes, and properties of figures."
  • "Geometric shapes can be found in various aspects of our daily lives, including art, architecture, and nature."
  • "Lines are one of the basic elements in geometry. They can be straight or curved."
  • "Angles are formed when two lines intersect. We measure angles in degrees."
  • "Triangles are three-sided polygons. They have different types based on their angles and side lengths."
  • "Rectangles are four-sided polygons with opposite sides that are equal in length and all angles are right angles."
  • "Circles are geometric shapes with all points on the boundary equidistant from the center."
  • "Geometric concepts can be used to create visually appealing designs and patterns, as seen in Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage."
