Activities
- Open your Artist Work book to page 26 and find Claude Monet's painting "The Summer Field of Poppies" from 1875.
- Observe the painting and think about the following questions:
- What mediums do you think Monet used in this painting?
- Is "The Summer Field of Poppies" of 1875 detailed or abstract?
- What elements appear near or far in the painting?
- What do you think the artist is drawing your eye to?
- How does Monet use color, light, or shadows to draw your attention?
- What do you think Monet wants the main focus to be in this painting?
- Write your impression of this art piece, drawing from the questions listed above. Describe your thoughts and feelings about the painting in your journal or on a separate piece of paper.
