Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to appreciate and create artwork inspired by Hello Kitty.

Materials and Prep

  • Sketchbook or plain paper
  • Pencils, erasers, and colored pencils
  • Reference images of Hello Kitty

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Hello Kitty (10 minutes)
    Show the student various images of Hello Kitty and briefly discuss the character's history and popularity.
  2. Observational Drawing (20 minutes)
    Instruct the student to choose a reference image of Hello Kitty and create an observational drawing of the character. Encourage attention to details and proportions.
  3. Coloring and Personalization (15 minutes)
    Once the drawing is complete, allow the student to add their own personal touches and color the artwork using colored pencils.
  4. Show and Tell (10 minutes)
    Give the student an opportunity to share their artwork with you or other family members. Encourage them to explain their artistic choices and what they enjoyed about the process.
