Fifth Grade Talking Points
- "Capital letters are used to start sentences. They give a clear signal that a new sentence is beginning."
- "We also use capital letters for proper nouns, which are names of specific people, places, or things. For example, the names of cities, countries, people's names, and titles of books or movies should be capitalized."
- "In titles, we capitalize the first and last words, as well as all important words in between. However, we don't capitalize small words like 'a', 'an', 'the', 'and', 'or' unless they are the first or last word of the title."
- "Remember, capital letters are important for clarity and proper grammar. Using them correctly helps readers understand your writing better."
