Objective

  • Construction-themed storybook

Activities

  1. Introduction: Begin by showing the toddler different construction vehicle toys and briefly talk about what each vehicle does.
  2. Counting Trucks: Use the construction-themed flashcards to practice counting with the toddler. Show a flashcard with a number, and ask the toddler to find and count the corresponding number of construction vehicles.
  3. Addition and Subtraction: Introduce basic addition and subtraction using the construction-themed flashcards. Show an addition or subtraction problem and ask the toddler to use the construction vehicle toys to solve it.
  4. Worksheet Fun: Give the toddler construction-themed worksheets with simple addition and subtraction problems. Help them solve the problems using the construction vehicle toys as manipulatives.
  5. Stamp or Sticker Math: Use construction-themed stamps or stickers to create simple addition and subtraction problems on a piece of paper. Ask the toddler to solve the problems by counting the stamps or stickers.
  6. Coloring Math: Provide the toddler with construction-themed coloring pages that have numbers on them. Instruct the toddler to color the areas with specific numbers or follow simple addition and subtraction instructions to determine the colors.
  7. Storytime: Read a construction-themed storybook to the toddler, focusing on any counting or basic arithmetic concepts mentioned in the book.
