Objective

Materials and Prep
- Construction vehicle toys (e.g. toy dump truck, toy excavator)
- Construction vehicle picture cards
- Construction-themed counting objects (e.g. toy cones, toy bricks)
- Construction-themed number flashcards (1-10)
- Construction-themed coloring sheets
- Construction-themed stickers
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Counting Construction Vehicles: Show the toddler different construction vehicle toys and ask them to count how many vehicles there are.
- Matching Numbers: Lay out the construction vehicle picture cards and the number flashcards. Ask the toddler to match the correct number flashcard with the corresponding picture card.
- Number Recognition: Hold up a random number flashcard and ask the toddler to identify the number. Repeat with different flashcards.
- Coloring Construction Vehicles: Give the toddler construction-themed coloring sheets and ask them to color the vehicles using their favorite colors.
- Sticker Counting: Give the toddler construction-themed stickers and ask them to count how many stickers they have.
