Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a short paragraph about a farm using descriptive words.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or crayons

Activities

  • Activity 1: Farm Word Brainstorming
  • Ask the student to think of different things they can find on a farm. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper. Encourage them to use descriptive words like "big red barn," "green grass," or "happy cows."

  • Activity 2: Farm Drawing
  • Using the descriptive words from the previous activity, ask the student to draw a picture of a farm. Encourage them to include as many details as possible.

  • Activity 3: Farm Sentence Writing
  • Ask the student to write a short sentence or two about their farm drawing. Remind them to use the descriptive words they brainstormed earlier. If needed, provide sentence starters like "I see a..." or "There is a..."

  • "A farm is a place where farmers grow crops and raise animals."
  • "On a farm, you can find things like barns, animals, fields, and farmers."

  • "Let's think of some words to describe a farm. Can you think of any?"
  • "Now, let's draw a picture of a farm using the words we came up with. Remember to include lots of details!"
  • "Great job! Now, let's write a sentence or two about our farm drawing. Remember to use the descriptive words we brainstormed."
