Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand basic farm-related words and sentences.

Materials and Prep

  • Farm-themed picture book
  • Farm animal flashcards
  • Whiteboard or large paper
  • Markers or crayons

Activities

  1. Read Aloud: Start by reading a farm-themed picture book to the student. Pause occasionally to ask questions and engage in discussions about the story.
  2. Word Match: Show the student the farm animal flashcards and ask them to identify each animal. Then, write the names of the animals on the whiteboard or paper. Have the student match the flashcards to the corresponding words.
  3. Sentence Building: Using the farm animal flashcards and additional word cards (e.g., "is," "on," "the"), help the student create simple sentences related to the farm. Encourage them to read the sentences aloud.
  4. Draw and Label: Ask the student to choose their favorite farm animal and draw a picture of it on the whiteboard or paper. Have them label the animal by writing its name below the drawing.
