Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify Halloween-related words, improve reading skills, and engage in a fun Halloween-themed reading activity.
Materials and Prep
- Halloween-themed books or stories
- Flashcards with Halloween-related words
- Writing materials (paper, pencils, crayons)
Activities
- Introduction: Begin by asking the student what they know about Halloween. Discuss the different costumes, decorations, and traditions associated with Halloween.
- Word Hunt: Show the student the flashcards with Halloween-related words. Help them read and identify each word. Then, hide the flashcards around the room and ask the student to find them. Once they find a flashcard, they should read the word aloud.
- Story Time: Read a Halloween-themed story or book to the student. Encourage them to listen carefully and ask questions if they don't understand something. After reading, discuss the story and ask the student to recall key details.
- Word Art: Provide the student with paper and writing materials. Ask them to choose a Halloween-related word from the flashcards and draw a picture representing that word. Then, help them write the word below their drawing.
