- Start by discussing what migration means and ask the student if they know any animals that migrate.
- Draw a simple picture of a bird on the board and explain how birds migrate from one place to another. Discuss the reasons why birds migrate and the different routes they take.
- Ask the student to draw their favorite migrating bird and label its characteristics and the reasons why it migrates.
- Next, introduce the concept of animal hibernation. Discuss which animals hibernate and why they do so. Explain how hibernation helps animals survive during the winter.
- Ask the student to draw an animal that hibernates and label its characteristics and the reasons why it hibernates.
- Finally, briefly talk about animal migration in the ocean. Explain how some marine animals, like whales and sea turtles, migrate long distances in search of food or to reproduce.
- Encourage the student to draw their favorite marine animal that migrates and label its characteristics and the reasons why it migrates.
