Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore Halloween-themed music and engage in creative activities related to the holiday.
Materials and Prep
- Halloween-themed music playlist
- Costume props (optional)
- Arts and crafts supplies (paper, markers, scissors, glue, etc.)
- Empty containers or drums (can be improvised with pots and pans)
Activities
Start the lesson by playing Halloween-themed music in the background. Encourage the student to listen and move to the rhythm. They can dance, march, or pretend to be different characters.
Have a mini costume parade where the student can dress up and show off their Halloween costumes. Play music and let the student walk around the room, showcasing their creativity.
Engage the student in a simple arts and crafts activity. Provide them with materials to create their own Halloween-themed musical instrument. They can make a shaker using a container filled with rice or beans, or create a drum using an empty container and a piece of fabric.
Once the instruments are ready, guide the student to explore different sounds they can make with their creations. Encourage them to experiment with different rhythms and beats.
Conclude the lesson by playing a Halloween-themed song and have the student use their homemade instruments to accompany the music. Encourage them to be creative and have fun with their musical improvisation.
