Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to analyze and interpret reading passages related to space, demonstrating comprehension and critical thinking skills.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  1. Pre-Reading Discussion: Engage the student in a conversation about their interest in space. Ask open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking and activate prior knowledge.
  2. Reading Comprehension: Provide the student with a reading passage related to space. Instruct them to read the passage carefully and take notes as they go along.
  3. Text Analysis: Guide the student in analyzing the reading passage. Encourage them to identify the main idea, supporting details, and any literary devices used. Discuss the author's purpose and tone.
  4. Critical Thinking Questions: Pose thought-provoking questions to the student based on the reading passage. Encourage them to think critically, make connections, and express their opinions. Discuss any implications or consequences related to the topic.
  5. Summary and Reflection: Ask the student to summarize the main points of the reading passage and reflect on what they have learned. Encourage them to express their thoughts and opinions in a well-structured response.
