By the end of this lesson, you will be able to recognize and identify different types of dinosaurs through reading and engaging activities.
Materials and Prep
- Dinosaur books or printouts
- Dinosaur toys or figurines
- Writing materials (paper, pencils, crayons)
- Optional: Dinosaur-themed stickers or stamps
Activities
- Read a Dinosaur Book: Start by reading a dinosaur book together. Point out the names of different dinosaurs and talk about their characteristics.
- Dinosaur Identification Game: Lay out the dinosaur toys or printouts on a table. Ask the student to identify each dinosaur by name. Encourage them to use the book as a reference if needed.
- Draw and Label Dinosaurs: Provide the student with paper and writing materials. Ask them to choose their favorite dinosaur and draw a picture of it. Help them label the different parts of the dinosaur's body, such as head, tail, legs, etc.
- Stamp or Stick Dinosaur Names: If you have dinosaur-themed stickers or stamps, let the student use them to spell out the names of different dinosaurs on a separate piece of paper. If stickers or stamps are not available, they can write the names using crayons or pencils.
