Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a Halloween-themed story using descriptive words and basic sentence structure.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Brainstorm Halloween-related words together. Write them down on a piece of paper. Examples: pumpkin, ghost, witch, candy, costume, etc.

  2. Choose a main character for your story. It can be a person, an animal, or even an object.

  3. Use the Halloween-related words from your brainstorming session to describe the main character. Write down at least three descriptive words or phrases.

  4. Think about where the story takes place. Is it in a haunted house, a spooky forest, or a magical pumpkin patch? Write a sentence describing the setting.

  5. Decide on a problem or challenge that your main character will face in the story. Write a sentence explaining the problem.

  6. Now, think about how your main character will overcome the problem. Write a sentence describing the solution.

  7. Put all of your sentences together to create a Halloween story! Make sure to use your descriptive words and basic sentence structure.
