- Pictures or prints of famous paintings
- Pencils and paper
Activities
- Introduction to Famous Paintings
- Create Your Own Painting
- Write a Description
Show the student pictures or prints of famous paintings and discuss what they see in each painting. Encourage them to use descriptive words to talk about the colors, shapes, and objects in the paintings.
Provide the student with painting supplies and ask them to create their own painting. Encourage them to think about the colors, shapes, and objects they want to include in their painting. As they work, ask them questions about their choices and help them use descriptive language to explain their painting.
After the painting is complete, ask the student to write a description of their painting using descriptive language. Encourage them to use words that describe the colors, shapes, and objects in their painting. Help them with spelling and sentence structure as needed.
