Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and appreciate different types of evergreen trees through various art activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Coloring materials (crayons, colored pencils, or markers)

Before starting the lesson, it would be helpful to have some basic knowledge about evergreen trees and their characteristics.

Activities

  1. Introduction: Begin the lesson by discussing what evergreen trees are and their distinguishing features. Show pictures or illustrations of different types of evergreens.
  2. Observation: Take a nature walk or look through books or online resources to observe and identify different evergreen trees. Pay attention to their shapes, colors, and textures.
  3. Drawing: Use your pencil and paper to sketch your favorite evergreen tree. Focus on capturing its unique features and details. You can add more elements to your drawing, such as animals or a landscape, if you'd like.
  4. Coloring: Once you are satisfied with your drawing, use your coloring materials to bring it to life. Pay attention to the colors and shades of the tree's foliage and trunk. Be creative and use different colors if you'd like!
  5. Presentation: Share your artwork with your family or friends. Explain what you like about evergreen trees and why you chose to draw the specific tree you did.
