Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply arithmetic concepts to solve mathematical problems using Lego.
Materials and Prep
- Lego bricks
- Paper and pencil
No prior knowledge is needed for this lesson.
Activities
-
Build a Lego tower using 10 bricks. Count the number of bricks used and write it down.
-
Take apart the Lego tower and divide the bricks equally into 2 piles. Count the number of bricks in each pile and write it down.
-
Add 5 more bricks to one of the piles. Count the total number of bricks in that pile and write it down.
-
Subtract the number of bricks in the other pile from the total number of bricks in the first pile. Write down the result.
Sixth Grade Talking Points
