Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and comprehend information about space, and apply your understanding to complete engaging activities.
Materials and Prep
- Space-themed books or articles
- Paper and pencils
- Internet access (optional)
Activities
-
Start by reading a space-themed book or article together. Discuss the main ideas and any new vocabulary words you come across.
-
After reading, ask your student to write a short summary of what they learned from the text. Encourage them to use their own words and include important details.
-
Next, have your student create a space-themed word search puzzle. They can choose space-related words from the text they read and create a grid with hidden words for someone else to find.
-
Once the word search is complete, exchange puzzles with a family member or friend. Challenge each other to find all the hidden words within a time limit.
-
Finally, encourage your student to be creative and write a short story or poem about space. They can imagine themselves as an astronaut or describe a journey to another planet.
