Materials and Prep
- A notebook or a piece of paper
- A pencil or a pen
- A comfortable outdoor space
- A magnifying glass (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of what plants and animals are and how they differ from each other.
Activities
- Go outside to your chosen outdoor space.
- Find a comfortable spot to sit or stand.
- Look around and observe your surroundings. Pay attention to the plants and animals you see.
- Take out your notebook or paper and draw or write down the plants and animals you observe. Try to be as detailed as possible.
- If you have a magnifying glass, use it to get a closer look at plants or insects.
- After observing for a while, take some time to reflect on your findings. What did you notice about the plants and animals? How are they similar or different?
- Share your observations with a family member or a friend. Discuss what you learned and what surprised you the most.
