Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Coloring materials

No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

Activities

  1. Introduce vocabulary: Begin by showing pictures or drawings of different nature-related objects such as trees, flowers, animals, and insects. Ask the student to repeat the Spanish names of each object after you.
  2. Coloring activity: Give the student a coloring sheet with various nature scenes. Encourage them to color while naming the objects they are coloring in Spanish.
  3. Nature walk and labeling: Take the student on a short nature walk in your backyard or a nearby park. Point out different objects and ask the student to name them in Spanish. Write down the Spanish names on a piece of paper or a mini whiteboard.
  4. Create a nature journal: Back at home, help the student create a nature journal using the labeled objects from the nature walk. Have the student draw pictures of the objects and write their Spanish names next to them.
