Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify different types of trees and understand the importance of forests.

Materials and Prep

  • Pictures or illustrations of different types of trees
  • Large piece of paper or whiteboard
  • Markers or crayons

Activities

  1. Tree Identification Game: Show the pictures or illustrations of different types of trees to your child and ask them to identify each tree. Discuss the characteristics of each tree and how they are different from one another.
  2. Forest Collage: Give your child the large piece of paper or whiteboard and let them draw or paste pictures of trees and other forest elements like animals, flowers, and mushrooms. Encourage them to be creative and use different colors.
  3. Story Time: Read a book about trees and forests to your child. Discuss the importance of trees in providing oxygen, shade, and homes for animals. Ask them questions throughout the story to engage them in the topic.
