Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and identify the four seasons and their characteristics.
Materials and Prep
- Whiteboard or large piece of paper
- Markers or crayons
- Printed pictures of different seasons
Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of colors and weather.
Activities
- Introduction: Start by asking the student if they know what the word "seasons" means. Discuss briefly and explain that seasons are different times of the year with different weather and changes in nature.
- Season Sorting: Show the printed pictures of different seasons to the student. Ask them to identify and sort the pictures according to the four seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter. Encourage them to describe the characteristics of each season as they sort.
- Weather Chart: Draw a simple weather chart on the whiteboard or paper, dividing it into four sections for each season. Ask the student to help you draw or color appropriate weather symbols for each season (e.g., sun for summer, raindrops for spring, etc.). Discuss the typical weather patterns for each season and how they differ.
- Seasonal Changes: Discuss how nature changes during each season. Ask the student to draw or describe some changes they notice during each season (e.g., flowers blooming in spring, leaves falling in fall, etc.).
