Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own wizard wand using basic art materials.
Materials and Prep
- Cardboard tubes (empty toilet paper rolls)
- Colored construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
Prior to the lesson, make sure you have collected enough cardboard tubes and have all the necessary materials ready for the activity.
Activities
- Start by discussing different types of wands and their significance in wizardry. Show pictures of famous wizard wands from books or movies.
- Provide each student with a cardboard tube and encourage them to decorate it using construction paper, markers, or crayons. They can create unique designs or patterns.
- Once the decoration is complete, instruct the students to cut out a small rectangular piece of construction paper and roll it tightly. This will serve as the handle of the wand.
- Show the students how to glue the handle onto one end of the cardboard tube, ensuring it is securely attached.
- Allow the wands to dry, and then let the students practice their wizardry by waving their newly created wands and casting imaginary spells.
