Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and name different body parts.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed for this lesson.
- Prior knowledge of basic body parts (e.g., head, arms, legs) is helpful.
Activities
- Body Parts Song: Sing a fun song about body parts together. You can find various body parts songs on YouTube or create your own.
- Body Parts Flashcards: Create flashcards with different body parts written or drawn on them. Show each flashcard to your child and ask them to identify the body part.
- Simon Says: Play a game of Simon Says, incorporating body parts commands. For example, "Simon says touch your nose" or "Simon says wiggle your toes."
- Body Parts Puzzle: Use a body parts puzzle or create your own by drawing a simple outline of a body on a piece of paper. Cut out different body parts and ask your child to place them correctly on the outline.
- Body Parts Book: Create a mini book with pictures or drawings of different body parts. Help your child write the names of each body part next to the corresponding picture.
Kindergarten Grade Talking Points
- "Our bodies are amazing! We have different parts that help us do different things."
- "Can you point to your head? That's where our brain is, and it helps us think and make decisions."
- "What about your arms? They help us reach and grab things. Try waving your arms like a bird!"
- "Our legs are great for walking and running. Can you show me how you walk like a robot?"
- "We also have a special part called our nose. It helps us smell different things, like flowers or yummy food!"
- "Let's not forget our mouth! It helps us eat, talk, and smile. Can you show me your biggest smile?"
