Start by showing the toddler pictures or toy dinosaurs and talk about what dinosaurs are. Explain that dinosaurs lived a long time ago and are now extinct.
Write the names of different dinosaurs on separate pieces of construction paper. Have the toddler trace the letters of each dinosaur's name using markers or crayons.
Provide the toddler with a variety of dinosaur-themed pictures from magazines or printouts. Help them cut out the pictures and glue them onto a larger piece of construction paper to create a dinosaur collage.
Read a dinosaur-themed story to the toddler, emphasizing the different dinosaur names. Encourage the toddler to repeat the names of the dinosaurs and ask questions about the story.
Ask the toddler to create their own short story using the dinosaur names they have learned. Help them write or dictate the story, and then have them draw pictures to go along with it.
